He Chose First

  • He Chose First

In the first century, disciples chose their rabbi — that was simply how it worked. You assessed your options, made your decision, and approached the teacher you wanted to follow. Jesus shattered that custom completely. “You did not choose me, but I chose you.” That word lands differently when you sit with it. Before you made any decision. Before you did anything to deserve it. He chose you — and appointed you — to go and bear fruit that lasts. The emphasis doesn’t fall on you. It falls on the One who chose you. What would change today if you lived from that truth instead of striving toward it?
